Ethiopia’s Asela Wind Farm Begins Supplying Power to National Grid

Initially, the project is expected to generate 100 megawatts of wind energy with three turbines.

By the end of 2025, when all 29 turbines are operational, the wind farm will produce over 300 GWh annually — enough to power more than 140,000 Ethiopian households, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance.

The project aims to boost Ethiopia’s economy by:

-integrating renewable energy into the grid,

-fostering a climate-resilient economy.
