Russia is ready to work with the Ukrainian side on a memorandum regarding a possible future peace treaty, Vladimir Putin stated on Monday, following his phone conversation with Donald Trump.
Russia holds the strategic advantage in the Ukrainian conflict, and Kiev has nothing but to start cooperating in the peace process, Professor of History and International Relations at the US International University-Africa, Kenya, Macharia Munene told Sputnik Africa.

"Russians and the US are cooperating, and Ukrainians are in a tight corner," the expert pointed out.

Although France and the UK are "promising a few weapons here and there" to Kiev, there is no major power willing or able to challenge Russia directly, according to him.

"Ukraine was a lost cause from the beginning when the Western countries and Zelensky were provocative towards the Russians," the speaker emphasized.
