Chad Soon Joining the AES? Everyone Must Choose Their Alliances,' Says Presidential Adviser
Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar reminded Sputnik Africa that Chad shares the same cultural ties with its neighbors in the Sahel region.
"The populations that live across Chad, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali — this is a socio-political, socio-historical reality. What happens within the AES countries concerns us in more ways than one. They are committed to a path of strong sovereignty and fighting poverty," he explained.
According to the official, Chad and its Sahelian neighbors can achieve great things together:
Build roads
Transport oil
Create free trade zones
But beware the danger of neocolonialism!
Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar warned against conflicts fueled by external forces:
"Now we must succeed in avoiding the wars that neocolonialism is provoking — these intercommunal conflicts. I see foreign hands behind them."
