Kremlin Says Trump's Position Neutral, While European Leaders Openly Pro-Ukrainian

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Trump is truly engaged in achieving a settlement in Ukraine and holds a neutral position, while European leaders are openly pro-Ukrainian.
"While Trump's position is still fairly neutral, and he is really engaged in settlement issues, their [European leaders'] position is openly pro-Ukrainian," Peskov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin after Russian President Vladimir Putin's phone conversation with Trump.
Moreover, European leaders expect to persuade Trump to accept their position, the Kremlin spokesman also said, adding that there were attempts to manipulate the US leader ahead of the talks.
"Their main trajectory is aimed at spoiling it for Russia wherever possible," Peskov said.
At the same time, real mediation can only be performed by someone who is equally distanced from all parties to the conflict, the Kremlin spokesman added.
