Putin to Hold Telephone Conversation With Trump on Monday at 14:00 GMT, Kremlin Says
11:16 19.05.2025 (Updated: 11:31 19.05.2025) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Monday at 14:00 GMT, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"At five o'clock [Moscow time, 14:00 GMT], there will be a telephone conversation with Trump. Trump already announced this the day before yesterday. Naturally, the conversation is important given the negotiations that took place in Istanbul," Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin will tell about the results of the telephone conversation between Putin and Trump, the official added.
A possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump depends on personal agreements between the leaders, Peskov said.
"It will largely depend on what they decide themselves. The two presidents make the decision. The meeting, of course, needs to be worked out, but depending on what dates they themselves set, the teams will adjust to this," Peskov told journalists, adding that the meeting should be well-prepared.
He added that a new possible visit of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Russia can be agreed upon immediately, if necessary.
"As needed, these visits are coordinated instantly, executed immediately. There are no problems here," Peskov told reporters.
Moreover, Russia highly appreciates the mediation efforts of the United States in the Ukrainian track, the Kremlin spokesman stated.
"But if the mediation efforts of the United States, and we highly appreciate them, we are grateful to the American side, if they really help us achieve our goals by peaceful means, then, naturally, this is preferable," Peskov said, commenting on a question about the need for US mediation in resolving the Ukrainian issue.
Russia will achieve the goals of the special military operation, but it is preferable to achieve them by political and diplomatic means, the spokesman added.
