Botswana Backs Call for Depoliticized Global Justice: 'Lady Justice is Colorblind'
Botswana’s Justice Minister Nelson Ramaotwana has voiced strong support for international efforts—led by Russia and others—to remove political bias from global justice systems.
“Lady Justice is colorblind, meaning that justice is for all, and justice does not discriminate,” he told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the 13th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
Ramaotwana stressed that justice must not favor powerful nations or those with more resources, calling for an inclusive and equal system for all states.
“We want a system that would not discriminate on the basis of your mightiness… We need to interact, we need interdependence.”
He urged the global community to reflect on past failures and work toward a fair, balanced international criminal justice framework.
