Zimbabwe's President Welcomes New Officers, Urges Unity & Service
In Gweru, Emmerson Mnangagwa presided over the Zimbabwe Military Academy's commissioning parade.At the event, he reflected on his recent attendance at the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in Russia.
"The loss of millions of lives during that dark period of world history [WWII] forever reminds us of the need to pursue national unity and to seek peace," he said.
He thanked the Zimbabwe Military Academy for producing skilled officers, reminding them that their commission demands loyalty, patriotism, and integrity in service to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
Mnangagwa also urged devotion to national values despite sanctions. He commended Eswatini cadets for strengthening Zimbabwean-Eswatini ties and welcoming their continued connection to Zimbabwe.
