How Tanzanian Government Saved $4.93 Mln in One Year?
The answer lies in NeST — National e-Procurement System of Tanzania: By shifting from paper-based to digital procurement, the government slashed costs and boosted efficiency across public tenders.
The system has already managed over 130,000 tenders worth over $5.5 billion since the 2023/24 financial year, Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Dennis Simba noted.
"The system has significantly reduced the time institutions spend reviewing bidder information and processing tenders," he told reporters.
But the benefits go beyond cost and time savings — NeST is also improving transparency and opening new opportunities for local suppliers, who can now access tenders remotely, the official added.
