BRICS Bank Slams Sanctions and Protectionism

The New Development Bank (NDB) of BRICS nations firmly rejects “unilateral approaches” and coercive policies, said NDB President Dilma Rousseff at the CELAC-China Forum in Beijing.

"Unilateral approaches are a sign of regression that replaces the rule of law and cooperation with the imposition of brute force," she stated.

Rousseff warned that tariff wars and economic coercion are “extremely dangerous” and obstruct global development. She emphasized the need to reaffirm “multilateralism, mutual respect... and rejection of protectionism.”

Founded by emerging economies, the NDB seeks to offer support without strings attached, respecting national sovereignty and promoting a new model of South-South cooperation, Rousseff added.
