O-Mining Initiative: Unleashing Ethiopia's Mineral Wealth for Sustainable Prosperity
Oromia Regional State has officially launched a plan called "O-Mining" that aims to encourage private sector investment, expand mining operations and boost exports.
The Oromia Mining Development Authority said that surveys indicate that the region has significant reserves of gold, precious stones and industrial minerals.
The region intends to not only extract the minerals but also create a thriving industrial ecosystem around its resources.
It also aims to triple the sector's revenue through exports and value-added industries and transform the region's economy, local media reported.
