Traditional African Diet Reduces Inflammation & Improves Immunity: Researcher
A study revealed that a return to a traditional African diet – rich in vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and fermented foods – significantly improves immune health, Godfrey Temba, a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College in Tanzania, told Sputnik Africa.
According to Temba, research participants who adopted a traditional African diet experienced:
🟠 a rapid decrease in pro-inflammatory cytokines
🟠 an improved antimicrobial response in their blood cells
🟠 a shift in key metabolic enzymes related to lipid handling
🟠 a regained balance in innate immune cells, leading to reduced inflammation
🟠 changes in metabolic markers and genes related to inflammation, indicating overall improved immune function.
