BUDAPEST (Sputnik) - Brussels "paved a high-speed route for Ukraine to join the EU", which would entail two serious consequences, Hungarian minister of foreign affairs and foreign economic relations said.
If Ukraine were to join the European Union, the countries of the community would be flooded with Ukrainian migrant workers and the infamous Ukrainian mafia, said Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"On the one hand, tens or even hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian workers would flood the Hungarian labor market, depriving tens or hundreds of thousands of Hungarians of employment. And the Ukrainian mafia, the infamous Ukrainian mafia, could use Hungary as a gateway," Szijjarto told reporters.

The Hungarian foreign minister called on Hungarian citizens who want to prevent these consequences to take part in a survey on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Answering a question from journalists, Szijjarto expressed hope that the United States would not withdraw from the negotiation process on Ukraine, since "this would be bad news for the whole world."
On April 14, a general survey of the population on Ukraine's accession to the European Union began in Hungary. Questionnaires are sent by mail. The ballot contains one question: "Do you support Ukraine's membership in the EU?" People can answer "yes" or "no." After the survey is completed in June, its results will be sent to Brussels. Unlike referendums, such consultations in Hungary do not imply a turnout threshold.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Brussels wanted Ukraine to become a member of the European Union by 2030, but the final word was up to Hungary. According to Orban, Ukraine's accession to the community would destroy the Hungarian economy. Orban also stated that the European Union did not want to help Ukraine, but to colonize it, and forcing Kiev to continue the conflict is one of the methods of colonization. He emphasized that Hungary was for the European Union, but against the accelerated European integration of Ukraine, and without the consent of Budapest, Kiev would never join the community.
