Lydia Mugambe, 50, a former Ugandan High Court and UN tribunal judge, has been jailed for more than six years at Oxford Crown Court, the service said in a statement.

The criminal was convicted on multiple charges, including:
⦁ Conspiring to facilitate immigration law breaches;
⦁ Facilitating travel for exploitation;
⦁ Forced labor;
⦁ Witness intimidation.

"Mugambe took advantage of the young victim’s lack of understanding of her rights to properly paid employment. She exploited and abused the victim, who was hidden in plain sight through forced labor working as a maid and providing childcare for free," read the statement.
The defendant was also ordered to pay £12,160 ($16,141) in compensation to the victim.
