Somali PM Reshuffles Cabinet, Names New Defense Minister Second Time in Less Than Two Months
The reshuffle made by Hamza Abdi Barre includes:
⦁ Ahmed Moallim Fiqi (previously FM) – new defense minister;
⦁ Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi (previously defense minister) – second deputy PM;
⦁ Abdisalan Abdi Ali Dhaay (previously second deputy PM) – foreign minister.
The reshuffle follows this week's success of the national army in the country's south, where it eliminated over 20 Khawarij militants, including senior leaders, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
Meanwhile, Somalia's Interior Ministry launched a national gathering of traditional elders in Mogadishu to boost efforts in the fight against al-Shabaab,* SONNA said on Monday.
