Uganda Declares End of Ebola Outbreak Less Than Three Months After First Confirmed Case
"This follows 42 days without a new case since the last confirmed patient was discharged on March 14," the Ugandan Health Ministry said on X.
To combat the disease, the ministry deployed rapid response teams, strengthened surveillance systems, established treatment units and took measures to prevent cross-border transmission.
"The country's long-standing experience in managing outbreaks enabled a fast, coordinated, and effective response," the WHO noted in a statement.
During the outbreak, a total of six deaths were reported out of 14 cases. The authorities identified and closely monitored 534 contacts.
