Artificial Intelligence is projected to add a staggering $126 billion in revenue and productivity gains across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa, according to a recent WTO report. For Africa’s emerging economies, this signals a profound opportunity to bridge industrial gaps and drive inclusive digital growth.
The continent’s growing engagement with AI holds promise for closing long-standing industrial gaps and boosting innovation in key sectors. As tools like generative AI become more accessible, small businesses, health services, and education systems stand to benefit from increased efficiency, new solutions, and broader reach.Supporting this projection, Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi, CEO of Data Scientists Network, believes AI offers a rare chance for Africa to catch up on decades of missed industrial advancement. He suggests that by leveraging AI, the continent can unlock new levels of productivity and creativity, especially in areas like small-scale business design, precision farming, and multilingual service delivery. To listen to the whole discussion, tune in to the Global South Pole podcast, brought to you by Sputnik Africa. In addition to the website, you can also catch our episodes on Telegram.► You can also listen to our podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Deezer, Castbox, Pocket Casts, Afripods, Podcast Addict, Overcast, and Mave Stream.► Check out all the episodes of Global South Pole.

As tools like generative AI become more accessible, small businesses, health services, and education systems stand to benefit from increased efficiency, new solutions, and broader reach.
Supporting this projection, Dr.
“AI is going to enable productivity, enable ease of service delivery, and, of course, create new products and services that perhaps we never knew existed before. Why? Because AI comes in with a super advantage to be able to converge possibilities. For example, you see SME [Small and medium-sized] enterprises using Stable Diffusion to generate images, which allows them to see new things. They can create designs for cloth, designs for even basic things such as furniture […] What does that do? It expands their market opportunity. It gives them wide outreach,” Dr. Adekambi explained.
