MOSCOW, April 24 (Sputnik) - BRICS is an intergovernmental organization, which currently has at least 10 full members besides additional partner countries. Brazil holds the rotating BRICS presidency in 2025, prioritizing international governance reform and cooperation within the Global South.
Russia will conduct a dialogue with the BRICS countries on the creation of an alternative to the International Criminal Court (ICC) within the framework of the association, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev suggested creating an alternative to the "inefficient" and "irreversibly flawed" International Criminal Court (ICC), for instance within BRICS.
"I have not yet reviewed the details of this initiative, but of course it has been worked out, and we will continue to engage in dialogue [on creating an alternative to the ICC within the framework of the association] with our partners in the BRICS countries," Peskov told reporters, commenting on Medvedev's proposal.
