Found at the St. Joseph Missions of Africa Church, one victim was a man found lying on the floor of a prayer room, clad in a white robe.
The rescued individuals reportedly refused medical care and instead began singing religious songs.
The incident revives memories of Kenya's 2023 Shakahola forest tragedy—one of the worst cult-related disasters in recent history, where over 400 bodies were exhumed. Church leader Paul Mackenzie now faces murder charges for allegedly ordering followers to starve themselves to death.
