Egypt Inaugurates African Space Agency Headquarters
Africa’s space ambitions took a big leap forward as Cairo opened the permanent headquarters of the African Space Agency (AfSA) on Sunday.
"This step is a milestone in Africa’s joint action and a paradigm shift in the possession of future tools, especially in the fields of technology and politics of outer space," Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said at the opening ceremony.
Abdelatty emphasized the agency's potential to address key challenges through data collection and analysis, citing applications in food security, agriculture, ecosystem management, and disease prevention.
Aims to foster collaboration with international partners, enhance space missions, and improve access to space-derived data and services;
The African Union's Executive Council selected Egypt as the host country in 2019.
