Ex-DRC President Joseph Kabila Reportedly in Country's East Amid Security Crisis

The former president traveled on Friday to North Kivu province's capital, Goma, amid claims that he was also seen in Rwanda's Kigali, according to Congolese outlet Actualite.

Kabila, who ruled from 2001 to 2019, has been residing in South Africa since last year. Last week, he announced his return to the DRC "without delay," citing the worsening security situation.

Earlier, he denied the allegations linking him to the M23 rebel group, calling them "baseless," and advocated for a local solution.

The Congolese government has yet to comment on the matter.
