Rwanda Agrees to Facilitate Evacuation of SADC Troops from Eastern DRC Through Its Territory, Report Says
The SADC troops stationed in North Kivu province's capital Goma will be evacuated to Tanzania, three diplomatic sources told a British media outlet.
The regional force's weapons will be sealed for security reasons during transit but will remain with the troops as they pass through Rwanda, the sources noted.
The Congolese and Rwandan governments and SADC have yet to comment on the troops withdrawal.
SADC announced the termination of its regional force's mandate (SAMIDRC) in March and initiated a phased withdrawal from the DRC.
