Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah congratulated General Brice Oligui Nguema on Thursday for his victory in the Gabon presidential election.In a statement from the presidency, Nandi-Ndaitwah described Nguema’s election as a milestone for the central African nation.The Saturday presidential election was the first since the 2023 military coup that was led by General Nguema, who ruled as Gabon’s interim president. The coup brought to end the 14-year rule of former president Ali Bongo Ondimba.

The former military leader won the Saturday election, securing 90.35%, while his closest rival, former prime minister Alain Claude Bilue By Nze, garnered three percent.
Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah congratulated General Brice Oligui Nguema on Thursday for his victory in the Gabon presidential election.
In a statement from the presidency, Nandi-Ndaitwah described Nguema’s election as a milestone for the central African nation.
“This milestone marks a new chapter of hope and progress for the people of Gabon. Namibia looks forward to continued collaboration and strengthening the longstanding bonds between our two nations, especially in advancing economic and trade relations. We wish president-elect Nguema success in his leadership journey and continued good health as he steers Gabon towards a brighter future,” she said.
