President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has affirmed Namibia’s commitment to global engagement, emphasising continued strong ties with China, with bilateral trade standing at N.dollars 24 billion.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, at State House yesterday, Nandi-Ndaitwah said Namibia would continue to endeavour to contribute to the international agenda and explore how best the people of Namibia could benefit from being part of the global village.
The Head of State indicated that China is one country Namibia will continue to collaborate with, as both sides are ready to strengthen cooperation for the mutual benefit of their people.
“I look forward to your hard work being the representative of your country here and everything needs to be directed towards mutual respect and mutual benefit,” she said.
On his part, Weiping indicated that China highly values its bilateral relationship with Namibia, noting that it is China’s hope that the two countries can witness greater developments in the next five years.
The ambassador revealed that trade between the two countries stands at N.dollars 24 billion, with uranium topping the list.
