Zimbabwe Boosts Solar Energy with International Partnership
The partnership with the International Solar Alliance is to establish a Solar Technology Application Resource Centre at Chinhoyi University. This initiative aims at accelerating solar energy deployment, research, and innovation.
The country plans to initiate large-scale production of solar panels and lithium batteries, supported by partnerships between local universities and international firms.
Energy Minister July Moyo highlighted renewable energy’s role in powering agriculture, mining, and manufacturing. He also pushed for cleaner cooking solutions to replace firewood, easing burdens on women, and promoted net metering—allowing solar users to sell excess power back to the grid for bill credits.
