Thanks to BRICS, Senegal to 'Take Advantage of Various Opportunities for Greater Independence'
Thanks to BRICS, Senegal can take advantage of multiple opportunities that lie in the economic, political, and geopolitical realms, according to Djibril Gningue, a Senegalese analyst and director of the Peace and Security Research Unit at GRADEC.
In an interview for Sputnik Africa, he analyzed the reasons why Dakar began negotiations with the group to join.
"Senegal's motivations are most likely linked to a very unfavorable subregional context, characterized in particular by a very low level of trade, a subregional context also characterized by insecurity and instability," Gningue said.
On the other hand, Dakar aims to implement its Vision 2050, which seeks to "ensure Senegal's sovereignty at the political, economic, social, and cultural levels through industrialization and the development of all essential sectors," the expert pointed out.
He emphasized that the BRICS are working towards a "fairer, more balanced, and multipolar world."
