In February, Sputnik Africa received a Pan-African Award "African Revival" in Nairobi, Kenya, for its outstanding contribution to Africa's quest for its rightful place in the world.
Sputnik Africa is a vital platform for amplifying African voices amid the weaponization of mainstream media, said Patrick Ndlovu, board chairman of the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) and CEO of Infinity Integrated Solutions.

"Sputnik Africa is serving as a voice for African opinions, and I must just say thank you. [...] We really appreciate outlets like yourselves that come up and actually give us a voice to actually state our own views as Africans," he told Sputnik Africa.

Africans have their own views on how the continent should be managed, but mainstream media "will never allow them to be stated," the official noted.

"A lot of the media outlets that are operating are actually weaponized; they are weaponized against African views, and it goes down to the point of actually being censored," the speaker explained.

According to Ndvolu, such media "tend to drive the Western neoliberal views to the judgment of Africans."
"Thank you to Sputnik Africa, continue giving a voice to all the Africans out there," he concluded.
