Ecuador Discussing Construction of First Low-Capacity NPP With Russia, Deputy Energy Minister Says
Russia has good experience in the nuclear sector, Ecuadorian Deputy Energy Minister Fabian Calero told Sputnik.
"Our vision is that in about six years we will be able to install a modular reactor with a capacity of about 300 MW, and then we want to expand the capacity to one gigawatt," the Ecuadorian official said.
Previously, President Daniel Noboa noted that Ecuador needs nuclear energy projects.
Rosatom, Russia's state nuclear corporation, already works with several African nations on nuclear plants, small reactors, and solar projects.
