US to Increase Debt Ceiling Again, Treasury Secretary Says
Upon approving the bill to raise the debt ceiling, the US "won't have to worry" about the issue for the next two years, Scott Bessent said.
The US national debt has now reached a record $36.2 trillion, according to Treasury data.
To reduce the national debt by using "trillions and trillions of dollars," Trump imposed new tariffs on imports to the US as a "declaration of economic independence." However, on Wednesday, he suspended these reciprocal tariffs for 90 days.
