Can Africa Power the Future of Semiconductors?
“Africa has the mineral wealth and plays a significant role in global semiconductor industry,” Dr. Adebisi Adetayo Abdulmumin of Ahmadu Bello University told Sputnik Africa.
With 50% of the world’s cobalt reserves in the DRC and key resources like tantalum in Rwanda, the continent is already critical to the supply chain.
“Some of the minerals required for this semiconductor materials are stationed here in Africa.”
By investing in infrastructure, R&D, and regional cooperation, Africa could do more than supply raw materials—it could become a serious player in the global tech race.
