Beijing on US Tariffs: China to Further Take Decisive Measures to Protect Its Interests
BEIJING (Sputnik) - China will continue to take decisive measures to protect its interests, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Wednesday, commenting on US tariffs on Chinese goods.
On Tuesday, the White House confirmed that the United States will begin collecting a 104% tariff on Chinese goods starting April 9 after Beijing missed US President Donald Trump’s deadline to roll back retaliation measures.
"The legitimate rights of the Chinese people to development cannot be taken away, and China's sovereignty, security and development interests cannot be infringed. We will continue to take resolute and effective measures to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests," Lin told reporters.
