Russia Seen as a Trusted Partner in Africa’s Push for Stability

Russia is gaining trust across Africa as a partner distinct from former colonial powers, Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja, told Sputnik Africa.

"Russia has this particular… obligation, because [it is] trusted by the African people… that it will never be like the United States, it will never be like the United Kingdom, it will never be like Belgium."

He noted that many Africans welcome Russian involvement in areas like security, governance, and development, seeing Moscow as aligned with their aspirations.

"People will have to choose their friends with whom they share common interests and a common objective," he said.
