The Italians captured Ras Desta in February 1937, and he was ruthlessly executed, while some of his belongings were stolen.

The Ethiopian government and his grandkids are currently engaged in a battle to bring them home.

Last month, a sword and cloak belonging to one of Ethiopia's national heroes temporarily appeared on the website of an Italian auction house. The incident sparked a heated discussion about the nation's stolen cultural property and the challenges of obtaining compensation.

Ras Desta, a commander of the Ethiopian "Patriots" resistance against the Italian occupation (1935-1941), was also a son-in-law of Emperor Haile Selassie.
