Denied at Border: One Nigerian Woman's Journey Exposes Passport Privilege
Alma Asinobi set out to visit all seven continents in 60 hours—not for adventure, but to highlight the struggles Africans face with “low mobility” passports.
Her journey was a logistical nightmare: weather delays, multiple visa rejections, and denied boardings—even with valid visas.
“The Nigerian passport is seen […] as a threat of illegal migration,” she told Sputnik Africa, calling that perception unfair and harmful.
Although the traveler did not achieve her goal due to the challenges, her story sparked vital conversations among Africans about global inequality in travel.
"I think we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for, and I think that we can just do whatever we set our minds to [...]. Just do the thing you want to do and don't be afraid to fail. Don't be afraid to be seen trying," she encouraged fellow Africans.
