The American Roots of German Nazism, Part 2: How the Nazis Sought to Recreate the US Colonial Model in Eastern Europe
"The Nazis aimed to replicate the American model in Eastern Europe by displacing or exterminating millions of people," says historian Yegor Yakovlev, a lecturer on Nazi crimes at Saint Petersburg State University.
Unlike in Western Europe, where they only sought control over conquered territories, in Eastern Europe, the Nazis planned a large-scale campaign to displace and exterminate the native population to make room for German settlers.
In the second video of the series, the researcher of Nazism’s origins and evolution exclusively explains to Sputnik how the settler colonialism practice in the US served as an example for Hitler's plan to populate Eastern Europe with Germans.
