ICC is Increasingly Political, Has 'Less & Less' to Do With Justice, Serbian Lawyer Says
Hungarian PM Orban made the decision to leave the ICC preemptively, citing the growing unlikelihood of the court adhering to its rules, Branko Lukic told Sputnik.
“It is well known that Orban has fallen out of favor with the EU. He has every right to demand withdrawal from the ICC,” a Serbian lawyer and member of the legal team of former Bosnian Serb army leader Ratko Mladic, said.
Lukic argued that in The Hague, the ICC is informally most often called the “African court,” since before the arrest warrant for Putin and Netanyahu, the body dealt exclusively with the affairs of this continent.
The expert noted that many influential and large countries, including the United States, China, Russia, and Israel, do not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC.
