Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the expansion of Israel Defense Forces operations in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, The Times of Israel newspaper reported. Katz said that Palestinian land captured during the raids would be part of Israel's "security zones." On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces resumed strikes against the enclave after almost two months of relative calm in response to the Palestinian movement Hamas' refusal to accept a US plan to extend the ceasefire to ensure the release of remaining hostages. The ceasefire ended on March 1. A day later, Israel banned humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.

Israel Violates International Law by Announcing Expansion of Operations in Gaza, Ankara Says
10:08 03.04.2025 (Updated: 10:11 03.04.2025) ANKARA (Sputnik) - The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Israel is disregarding international law by announcing the expansion of military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the expansion of Israel Defense Forces operations in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, The Times of Israel newspaper reported. Katz said that Palestinian land captured during the raids would be part of Israel's "security zones."
"Today's statements by the Netanyahu government regarding the expansion of military operations in Gaza and the continuation of illegal settlement activities in the West Bank are yet another demonstration of Israel's blatant disregard for international law and its complete detachment from the pursuit of peace," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces resumed strikes against the enclave after almost two months of relative calm in response to the Palestinian movement Hamas' refusal to accept a US plan to extend the ceasefire to ensure the release of remaining hostages. The ceasefire ended on March 1. A day later, Israel banned humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.
