TEHRAN (Sputnik) - On March 7, US President Donald Trump offered Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei negotiations on a nuclear deal, but Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected direct talks on March 30, suggesting mediated negotiations instead. In response, Trump threatened severe military action against Iran if no agreement was reached.
Iran will revise its defense doctrine and nuclear program if threats against the latter are realized, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Deputy Head for Political Affairs Gen. Yadollah Javani said, adding that military aggression against Tehran will only take the country's nuclear industry to a new level.
"If threats against the nuclear program are realized, Iran will revise its defense doctrine and the essence of its nuclear program. The essence of this revision is extremely clear," Fars news agency quoted Javani as saying on Wednesday.
The general added that "none of the stated goals of military aggression, including the destruction of the nuclear industry, will be realized." According to him, "these actions of the enemy will take Iran's nuclear industry to a new level."
Although "the atrocities" of the United States and Israel will cause damage to Iran, the retaliatory blow to the enemies will be harsher than the one inflicted, Javani noted.
