Israel-Palestine Escalation
Israel was hit by an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip on October 7, with Hamas movement's troops infiltrating border areas. On October 8, the Israeli government announced that it had invoked Article 40 of the Basic Law, which means the country was officially in a state of war.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - The Israeli military agency in charge of aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, COGAT, said on Tuesday that "there is enough food for a long period of time, if Hamas lets the civilians have it."
The United Nations on Tuesday dismissed Israel's claim that Gaza has a sufficient amount of food, stocked during the now-ended ceasefire.
"Ridiculous. We are at the tail end of our supplies," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters, when asked about the UN's reaction.
The bakeries have not been closed "for fun," as the core items are missing, Dujarric added.
On the same day, the World Food Program announced that it had run out of flour in its warehouses, and its bakeries can no longer operate unless Israel reopens the crossings and allows supplies in.
Israel halted the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in early March after Hamas refused to accept the proposal by US envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff to temporarily extend the first 42-day phase of the ceasefire.
