SHANGHAI (Sputnik) - Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that China-Russia relations have a strong internal driving force and unique strategic value.
Relations between Russia and China will continue bringing stability to international relations regardless of changes in the world, Secretary of the Party Committee of East China Normal University Mei Bing said on Monday.
"Relations between China and Russia have a powerful internal driving force and unique strategic value. They are not aimed against any third country and are not influenced by any third country," Mei said on the sidelines of a Russian-Chinese conference of the Valdai Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University.
Mei added that the development strategies and domestic policies of Russia and China have long-term character.
"Regardless of any changes in the international situation, Russian-Chinese relations will continue developing calmly, promoting the development and revival of both sides, and bring stability and positive energy into international relations," the secretary noted.
Meanwhile, Director of the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, Feng Shaolei, told Sputnik that the majority of Chinese people share the opinion that Russia is a reliable partner of their nation.
"Moreover, we [China and Russia] have been good friends and partners for a long time, and this is not only the decision of the politicians, it is also a long-term goal of the Chinese people," Feng said.
He added that this pattern of bilateral interaction is a result of the global changes and a series of conflicts that have taken place in the world over the past 30-40 years.
