Early to Talk About Russian Military Bases in Gabon, But This Is Not Ruled Out: Adviser
08:39 28.03.2025 (Updated: 08:51 28.03.2025) ST PETERSBURG, March 28 (Sputnik) - The question of Russian military bases in Gabon is still premature, but such a possibility is not ruled out, Privat Ngomo, an adviser to the transitional president of the Gabonese Republic, told Sputnik.
Earlier, Gabonese transitional president Brice Oligui Nguema, in an interview with the French publications RFI and France 24, said the deployment of Russian troops in the country is possible if Russia comes up with a relevant initiative.
"So far, we are not talking about Russian military bases in Gabon. This would be too hasty. However, now such a possibility is no longer ruled out, unlike during the times of previous regimes," Ngomo said.
He recalled that in an interview with French journalists, the leader of the transitional government of Gabon stated that France is no longer an exclusive partner, but is considered on an equal basis with other countries, including Russia and China.
