Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday reaffirmed her commitment to combating corruption within her administration, while also pledging to avoid a “witch hunt” against officials from the previous administration.“You are already paid by the people of Namibia. Why do you want people who want service to give you an extra income? In the process, you make all of us poor, because some investors are going back, and they were supposed to contribute to our economy. We, as ministers, it is our responsibility to do this,” the president said. The president urged her ministers to act with ‘clarity, integrity, honesty’ to serve the Namibian people. In efforts to improve service delivery and reduce expenditure, President Nandi-Ndaitwah has reduced the number of ministries from 21 in the previous administration to 14. There are also only seven deputy ministers.

Speaking at the opening of her cabinet meeting at State House, Nandi-Ndaitwah said immediately upon becoming president-elect, she was approached by companies, including foreign companies, with complaints.
Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday
reaffirmed her commitment to combating corruption within her administration, while also pledging to avoid a “witch hunt” against officials from the previous administration.
“They came to my office and said, ‘For this number of years, I've been trying to do this.’ And then they would say there are specific people asking for payment. I’m not going to follow up on things that happened before I was here, but things happening from 21 March, those I have to follow. I’m not going to witch hunt anybody, but from now on, please, there should be no delay," she said.
“You are already paid by the people of Namibia.
“I also urge you to carry out your responsibilities with boldness, with transparency, and within the framework of the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia," Nandi-Ndaitwah said. "There is no room for favouritism, or any undue influence, be it from investors, citizens or external forces in exchange for service delivery. Your duty is to serve citizens, investors and visitors timeously and equally."
In efforts to improve service delivery and reduce expenditure, President Nandi-Ndaitwah
has reduced the number of ministries from 21 in the previous administration to 14. There are also only seven deputy ministers.
