MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Inauguration Day, January 20, Trump, in his first speech as the 47th President of the United States, promised to immediately stop illegal immigration and begin the process of extraditing millions of migrants. He also declared a national emergency over the situation at the southern border.
The United States has sent the destroyer USS Gravely to the country's southern border to help combat illegal migrants, the US Northern Command said.

"USS Gravely’s deployment will contribute to the US Northern Command southern border mission as part of the DOD’s coordinated effort in response to the Presidential Executive Order. Gravely’s sea-going capacity improves our ability to protect the United States’ territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security," US Northern Command chief Gen. Gregory Guillot said.

The destroyer will carry a US Coast Guard unit with experience in combat operations, as well as operations to combat pirates, terrorists, and illegal migrants.
