US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick argued on Friday that Denmark had no right to Greenland, while Canada had long been a de facto "part of America," which would simplify its formal joining the United States. Additionally, the US commerce secretary argued that Canada had for all intents and purposes behaved as the 51st state of the US for a long time. A former Wall Street businessman, Lutnick suggested that the young people of Canada would overwhelmingly support a motion for Canada to join the US for its lower taxes and "incredible" protection.

US Commerce Secretary Argues Denmark Has No Right to Greenland, Canada Has Long Acted as 51st State
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - US President Donald Trump has repeatedly called US ownership of Greenland a national security imperative. He has also suggested that he wants Canada to become part of the United States, referring to it as the 51st state.
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick argued on Friday that Denmark had no right to
Greenland, while Canada had long been a de facto "part of America," which would simplify its formal joining the United States.
"We need Greenland for national security for the Arctic. Everyone would agree that Greenland is vital. And why is Denmark there? Because the Vikings conquered it hundreds of years ago? I mean, what does Denmark have to do with Greenland? You know the answer is nothing," Lutnick said in an interview to India Today broadcaster.
Additionally, the US commerce secretary argued that
Canada had for all intents and purposes behaved as the 51st state of the US for a long time.
"What the president says is that Canada completely, totally and utterly leans on the United States. Its entire economy leans on the United States. It does not pay really virtually anything into NATO, because it just hides behind the United States. It knows the United States would protect it. So, tell me what part about what I just said does not sound like it is part of America?" Lutnick said.
A former Wall Street businessman, Lutnick suggested that the young people of Canada would overwhelmingly support a motion for Canada to join the US for its lower taxes and "incredible" protection.
