On March 5, French President Emmanuel Macron, in his address to the nation, spoke against a ceasefire in Ukraine, saying that peace cannot be "a capitulation of Ukraine" and proposing to use French nuclear weapons to protect all of Europe.
French President Emmanuel Macron's speech yesterday is extremely confrontational, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that it allows Moscow to conclude that France thinks more about war than about peace.
He also highlighted a number of inaccuracies in the French president's statements:
Nothing is said about how
NATO military infrastructure was approaching the borders of Russia;
Russia's legitimate concerns in this regard were not mentioned;
Macron did not mention that former French President François Hollande had previously admitted that no one was going to implement the Minsk agreements;
Nothing was said about how the head of the French Foreign Ministry signed a document with guarantees to Ukraine's then-president Viktor Yanukovych in 2014, and then the Europeans deceived him.
Earlier, Peskov called an informal summit of European leaders held in London to discuss the situation in Ukraine and collective European security a "war party" in
the West that wants the conflict in Ukraine to continue.
