Earlier, during his address to the US Congress on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump cited Lesotho as an example of "appalling waste" in foreign spending that he had cut, specifically mentioning $8 million allocated to promote LGBTQI+* rights in the African nation.
Lesotho Foreign Minister Lejone Mpotjoane said he was offended by US President Donald Trump's comments that "nobody has ever heard" of Lesotho and invited the US leader to visit the country.
"I'm really shocked that my country can be referred to like that by the head of state. Lesotho is such a significant and unique country in the whole world. I would be happy to invite the president, as well as the rest of the world to come to Lesotho," Lesotho's Foreign Minister Lejone Mpotjoane said.

Key Points of Trump's Speech to Congress
According to Mpotjoane, Lesotho has already felt the impact of the US funding cut, particularly in its health sector, which, along with agriculture, had been supported by the US. The country is now exploring ways to become more self-sufficient, the minister added.
