KAMAZ, founded in 1969, is Russia's largest truck producer and a major manufacturer of buses and engines, known for its cab-over designs.
Ethiopia plans to import 5,000 modern, Russian-made Kamaz trucks to modernize its transport sector and support regional integration, according to the Ethiopian Transport Employers Federation.
The trucks are well-suited for the Ethiopian landscape, Federation President Berhane Zeru told Sputnik Africa, noting that the trucks have efficient, low-emission Euro 5 engines and will enable Ethiopia to use ports requiring higher standards.
Zeru noted that Ethiopia's BRICS membership has created business opportunities, and the country plans to collaborate with Russia and other BRICS members in line with its Digital 2025 strategy.
