The FESPACO's closing ceremony was held under the patronage of the country's President Ibrahim Traore, and in the presence of the prime ministers of Burkina Faso and Chad.

The 29th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou featured 235 films competing across various categories, bringing together over 2,000 film professionals from 53 countries.
On Saturday, Burkinabe director Dani Kouyate won the prestigious Yennenga Golden Stallion award for his feature film "Katanga: The Dance of the Scorpions" at the 29th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) after 28 years since the last Burkinabe victory, the presidency unveiled.
"Burkinabe filmmaker Dani Kouyate won the prestigious Yennenga Golden Stallion at the 29th edition of FESPACO with his film ‘Katanga: The Dance of the Scorpions,’" the presidency said, adding that Kouyate dedicated the award to the nation's defense forces and citizens.
After 28 years, Burkina Faso has won its third Yennenga Golden Stallion, an award that comes with a cash prize of 20 million CFA francs ($31,720).
The FESPACO's closing ceremony was held under the patronage of the country's President Ibrahim Traore, and in the presence of the prime ministers of Burkina Faso and Chad.
"Many awards were presented to filmmakers participating in this edition of FESPACO, held under the theme 'Cinemas of Africa and Cultural Identities' with Chad as the guest country of honor. The 30th edition of FESPACO is scheduled for February 27 to March 6, 2027," the presidency noted.
