Russia could boost grain exports to Africa as frequent adverse weather conditions, such as droughts in North and West Africa and floods in the Sahel, increase demand for grain and create export opportunities, consultant to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Liaison Office in Russia Igor Shpakov said.According to Shpakov, grain production in West Africa will drop to 73.7 million tonnes in 2025.Furthermore, the world's grain consumption will reach a record high of 2.869 billion tonnes in 2025, the consultant pointed out.

Africa's population growth of 2.3% annually, compared with the global average of 1.6%, and the consequent increase in grain consumption, is driving long-term demand, a consultant to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Liaison Office in Russia said.
Russia could boost grain exports to Africa as frequent adverse weather conditions, such as
droughts in North and West Africa and floods in the Sahel, increase demand for grain and create export opportunities, consultant to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Liaison Office in Russia Igor Shpakov said.
"Russia once again has the opportunity to meet the needs of this market, as Africa is becoming a significant export destination. This includes primarily Egypt and neighboring countries like Algeria, Morocco, and Nigeria, which have long been among the top 10 wheat importers. There are also new markets; for example, Kenya increased its imports of Russian wheat by 40% last year," the Russian official noted at the 18th Winter Grain Conference, held in the Russian Altai region.
According to Shpakov, grain production in West Africa will drop to 73.7 million tonnes in 2025.
Furthermore, the world's grain consumption will reach a record high of 2.869 billion tonnes in 2025, the consultant pointed out.
