The recent vote on the resolution at the UN General Assembly calls into question the sincerity of France and the UK, said Maria Zakharova, the Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman. On February 24, the US first proposed a resolution at the UN General Assembly on Ukraine calling for peace without any anti-Russian sentiment. However, EU countries, including the UK and France, made amendments to the text, causing the US to abstain.Hours later, the US submitted the original draft to the UN Security Council, where it passed without any changes. Despite having veto power, France and Britain allowed the resolution to go through unamended.Maria Zakharova questioned France and Britain's sincerity, asking if they could have genuinely changed their stance "in just 180 seconds" between altering the US resolution at the General Assembly and then approving it unchanged at the Security Council, implying they simply have "a different mask in each pocket."She also noted that both UN resolutions were adopted with a historically low 93 votes, the lowest ever in a UN General Assembly emergency special session.

On February 24, Ukraine submitted its regular resolution against Russia to the UN General Assembly, which was approved. However, for the first time, the United States voted against it.
The recent vote on the resolution at the
UN General Assembly calls into question the sincerity of France and the UK, said Maria Zakharova, the Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman.
On February 24, the US first proposed a resolution at the UN General Assembly on Ukraine calling for peace without any anti-Russian sentiment. However, EU countries, including the UK and France, made amendments to the text, causing the US to abstain.
Hours later, the US submitted the original draft to the UN Security Council, where it passed without any changes. Despite having veto power,
France and Britain allowed the resolution to go through unamended.
Maria Zakharova questioned France and Britain's sincerity, asking if they could have genuinely changed their stance "in just 180 seconds" between altering the
US resolution at the General Assembly and then approving it unchanged at the Security Council, implying they simply have "a different mask in each pocket."
She also noted that both UN resolutions were adopted with a historically low 93 votes, the lowest ever in a UN General Assembly emergency special session.
