Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the results of the recent Russia-US talks on Ukraine with South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola on Friday, stressing the need to resolve the crisis by addressing its root causes, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.The top diplomats met in Johannesburg on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting. MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian and South African foreign ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Pretoria at international platforms, including the UN, BRICS, the G20 and the Russia-Africa dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the results of the recent Russia-US talks on Ukraine with South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola on Friday, stressing the need to resolve the crisis by addressing its root causes, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Sergey Lavrov briefed his South African counterpart on the results of the Russian-US contacts on Ukraine held in Riyadh, including the need to achieve a settlement by eliminating the root causes of the crisis, which has been prepared for years by NATO and EU leaders," the ministry said in a statement.
The two sides exchanged views on pressing international issues, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Middle East, and noted the similarity of their approaches to resolving conflicts in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes region, as well as the role of the AU in maintaining peace and security on the continent, the ministry said.
